The Essex Troop
The 102d Cavalry Regiment Association, The Essex Troop is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the lineage, artifacts and traditions of the New Jersey Army National Guard’s oldest cavalry regiment. First organized in May 1890, in Newark, New Jersey, The Essex Troop and its lineage units have served the community, the State of New Jersey and the United States of America “Faithfully with Fortitude”, as embodied in the motto of the Regiment, since it’s organization.
The association is committed to maintaining a strong sense of history and comradeship for current and former Troopers and all military veterans, by organizing social gatherings, sponsoring scholastic scholarships and supporting various veterans’ programs.
